A Clinical Training for Mental Health Professionals
Slime has moved quickly into play therapy rooms, and the reasoning has not always moved with it. This three-hour live webinar establishes the clinical architecture underneath a sensory modality that is easy to use and easy to use badly in play therapy practice. Participants examine why tactile intervention reaches a dysregulated nervous system faster than verbal approaches do, then practice four play therapy techniques in their own hands: emotion color-coding, transformation and empowerment, containment and boundary work, and sensory grounding. Two composite case vignettes anchor the central clinical distinction, that not every distressed child has been traumatized and not every traumatized child develops PTSD, and demonstrate how the same material serves two entirely different formulations. The training closes with contraindications, cultural and family considerations, and documentation language that names the play therapy intervention, the clinical purpose, and the client response. Appropriate for clinicians working with youth ages 8 to 17.

Althea brings over 20 years of experience in research, diagnosis, and treatment across the mental health field. She specializes in guiding individuals and families toward resilience after trauma, moving from Hurt to Healing. Certified in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and the Playmobil pro Pro.Play method, she integrates both with play therapy. Althea trains mental health professionals, educators, and community leaders on trauma impact and responsive treatment approaches.

Live webinars are limited to 50 attendees. To receive CE credit, participants must be visibly present with their full name displayed for the entire webinar and must sign in and out of the chat so attendance can be recorded. To receive a CE certificate, participants must complete a training evaluation and pass the post-test with a score of 80% or higher. The post-test may be retaken as many times as needed to pass.
