This is a two-hour live online interactive workshop designed for mental health professionals who work with older children aged 8 to 12 who experience attachment-related trauma. The workshop focuses on the crucial role of secure attachments in a child’s healing process and development. It emphasizes using play therapy techniques to establish trust, security, and positive relationships between children and their caregivers. Through a combination of theoretical learning, practical exercises, and reflective practice, participants will use the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) method to develop a deeper knowledge of attachment theory and how it can be applied within therapeutic and caregiving contexts to support children’s emotional and psychological well-being. Participants will engage in discussions and reflect on how they can modify their current play therapy practices to better support the development of secure attachments in the children and families.
Live Webinar Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Use a play therapy lens to identify behaviors in children that may indicate attachment issues or trauma.
- Integrate LEGO® bricks into play therapy activities designed to strengthen the child-caregiver attachment.
- Demonstrate playful engagement strategies to caregivers that support attachment-building at home.
